Covering netting is primarily used to accelerate the start of the growing season, protect against night frost, and ward off pests.
Benefits of using a cover in the home garden:
• The cover is very lightweight and provides gentle protection without crushing young shoots and new growth
• The material’s UV-stable structure provides long-term protection
• Moisture-permeable and breathable
• Excellent light transmission, allowing 90% of light to reach the plants
• Protects against night frosts and raises soil and air temperatures
• Reduces wind damage
• Protects against birds and wildlife
• Easy to install by hand.
Usage: The cover is a very lightweight fabric made of polypropylene fibers, used to cover carrots, turnips, onions, strawberries, early potatoes, cold-sensitive crops, and more.
The cover fabric is laid directly over the growing plants and does not require any support structures. The edges are secured primarily with soil, but also with sandbags, hoses filled with water, rebar, etc. The cover should be installed loosely, leaving enough room for the plants to grow. Allow for the strip needed to secure the edges. The cover must be removed from strawberries and cucumbers during the flowering period.
